Carpets By Origin

Where the first carpet originated or what exactly is the origin of carpet is difficult to ascertain. However it is believed that the carpets may have first been manufactured in the regions of the Persia (Iran), Turkmenistan, central Asia Mongolia and China which are referred as "Carpet belt".

Whatever be the origin, but the fact remains that carpet weaving has been the most popular art since ancient times. Initially it was used as a floor coverings, to protect the people from cold etc. However as the civilization developed it was began to be used for home furnishing and decoration.


Carpets are manufactured in different parts of the world. However the most famous regions known for their carpets are Persia, India, Turkey, China, Tibet, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Armenia. However carpets are also woven in the North American and some of the European countries.

Carpets are both handmade and machine made. Handmade carpets are more beautiful and sophisticated. These carpets are manufactured in unparalleled designs and patterns. Colors are generally natural. It take months to complete the carpet of exceptional quality and value.

Carpets manufactured in different regions differ in designs, patterns and finishes. The carpet is usually named after the place where it was made or from the ethnic group who make it.
