care and support to the carpet. It helps the carpet to retain its
strength for a longer duration of time and helps in supporting different
types of traffic. However for different traffic conditions, there are
different types of carpet cushion.
The Carpet Cushion Council has provided minimum recommendations for separate carpet cushion used in different traffic areas of the home. ![]() ![]() Class 1: Moderate and Light Traffic like dining, bedrooms, living, and recreational rooms. Class 2 cushions are also used in Class 1 applications. Class 2: These are mainly used for heavy duty traffic, like corridors, lobbies and in multi-family facilities. They can also be used in all stair applications. The above chart demonstrates products that meet minimum guidelines. Better grades of carpet cushion than the minimum suggested are always preferred when possible so as to give more support and cushion for carpet. In areas where there is heavy use, use firmer grades of cushion. The various areas are like halls, stairways, and areas where heavy furniture is used . In bedrooms and lounge areas, softer cushion may be used . |
