The price of the silk carpet varies depending on the silk content. While the silk carpets with cotton base are available at slightly cheaper rates, the expensive ones are made with silk on silk base. The silk yarns used are properly highlights on the motifs and other patterns on the carpet. A Kashmir carpet with a pure silk pile may be referred to as an 80% silk carpet. The color-way of the silk carpet, and its details differentiate it from any other carpet.

Hand made silk carpets of Kashmir are the specialties of craftsman, having more than 400 knots per square inch. 100% pure silk carpets have very high knots per inch. The knotting of the carpet, in addition to its design, determine the durability and value of the carpet. Basically, the more knots per square inch, the greater its value. There is a strong Persian influence in Kashmiri silk carpets. The common designs on these silk carpets are known by the traditional names like " Art Goda", "Dabba Daar", "Phool Daar" etc. Kashmiri silk carpets are aesthetically appealing. The beauty of silk Kashmir carpets can never be undermined. Though silk carpets are expensive for their silk content and weaving, they are worth the investment.
